The Devil is Sweet...Not FAT!!!
Jul 12, 2022The number ONE cause of death in the United States is heart disease!!!! Did you know that heart disease affects almost 87 million Americans? In fact, One out of every three deaths in the U.S. is caused by heart disease, meaning that every forty seconds someone dies from it. How out of control is that? These numbers mimic the epidemic of chronic pain in this country.
Interestingly enough, there has been a major shift in the understanding of how heart disease is caused and how to manage it. And also, just like chronic pain, the medical field has been slow to adapt to these breakthroughs, which is why in my opinion, we have struggled in general to make significant improvements in the occurrence of this killer disease.
Let's take a look at a brief summary of the major paradigm shift that has taken place in our understanding of heart disease.
If you were to ask yourself what was the cause of heart disease in one word, what would you say? Well, if you were like the majority of the country who are unaware of the truth you would say exactly what has been taught to us from every seemingly credible source including school, the Government and the media…. Cholesterol!!!!
Cholesterol and fats in general have been demonized since the 1960s as the single greatest risk factor in heart disease. Remember being told how bad it was to eat that steak? Or how your eggs and bacon were going to kill you? Research in the 60s that was published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine, the gold standard even today when it comes to medical research publications, was used to help craft the U.S. government's dietary guidelines under this premise. But you want to know the truth...75% of people who have suffered a heart attack...HAVE NORMAL CHOLESTEROL!!! What the heck?! Actually, there has NEVER been a credible study that links high cholesterol to heart disease. So, what is up? How could this misinformation be spread and perpetuated for so long? And if Fat and Cholesterol isn't to blame...Then what is to blame?!
I'm going to leave you today with one interesting little fact that was reported just a couple of years ago about who funded the research behind the FAT/CHOLESTEROL MYTH. It’s been said time and again that to figure out the motivation behind corruption, it’s wise to follow the money.
In this case, that idea couldn’t be true. The American Heart Association did not fund this research, nor did the NIH. The money trail behind the fake news that we have been given about the cause of heart disease was funded by non-other than the Sugar Industry.
